TRANS-NATIONAL CRIME: NIGERIA POLICE FORCE ARRESTS TWO HIGH-PROFILE FUGITIVES WANTED FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING, ARMED ROBBERY
Reiterates Commitment towards International Partnership
The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant breakthrough in its fight against transnational organized crime with the arrest of two internationally wanted fugitives: Felix Omoregie alias “Eghosa Johnson Omoregie,” a suspected ringleader of a human trafficking syndicate wanted by Belgian authorities, and Okwudili Sabastine Ezeje, a key member of a Dubai-based armed robbery gang.
Felix Omoregie, the alleged mastermind of a large-scale human trafficking operation, had been declared wanted by the Belgian authorities through an INTERPOL Red Notice issued on 19th December 2023, and was arrested in Benin City, Edo State, following diligent intelligence and enforcement efforts by Police operatives. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Benin City.
Omoregie is accused of trafficking young Nigerian women—including minors—to Italy and subsequently dispersing them across Europe for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Victims were subjected to voodoo-based oaths and psychological coercion, with fabricated debts ranging between €20,000 and €50,000 used to manipulate and control them. His criminal network involved handlers in Brussels and France who managed the victims’ activities and remitted proceeds to him. Following a conviction in absentia in Belgium in 2021 for multiple counts of aggravated human trafficking and criminal organization leadership, Omoregie fled to Nigeria. Upon his arrest, a search of his premises revealed incriminating materials, including a photocopy of a passport intended for a planned relocation to Canada.
In a separate operation, the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, apprehended 37-year-old Okwudili Sabastine Ezeje at a hideout in Nsukka, Enugu State. Ezeje is wanted by authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a series of serious crimes including armed robbery, cultism, drug trafficking, and other organized criminal activities. Intelligence gathered reveals that Ezeje continued to coordinate criminal operations remotely from Nigeria. He has been directly linked to several high-profile robberies in Dubai and Sharjah, including an armed robbery at a grocery store in Dubai Mall, a targeted hit on Al Ansari Exchange in Jumeirah, and another heist at a Bureau de Change in Jebel Ali Village.
The arrest was the result of strategic intelligence sharing and operational collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and the Dubai Police. The arraignment of Okwudili Ezeje is expected to take place shortly.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., commends all operatives involved in these high-profile arrests for their professionalism, diligence, and dedication to upholding Nigeria’s international law enforcement obligations. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to enhancing its global policing partnerships and ensuring that fugitives find no safe haven within our borders. These arrests serve as a clear message that criminal elements, no matter how far they run or how long they hide, will be brought to justice. The Force calls on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative in the fight against organized crime, both at home and abroad.

Bizman petitions Oyo SSS Director over threat to life by Adigun, Agbolahan
An Ibadan-based businessman, Mr. Ayodeji Aleshe, has petitioned the Oyo State Director of the State Security Services (SSS), over alleged threat to his life.
Aleshe in a petition dated April 28, 2025, by his counsel, Michael F. Lana, accused Alhaji Saheed Omogbolahan Adigun who is the Chief Executive Officer, Gastab Oil and Kazeem Agbolahan (aka Lebe) of unlawfully raising a private army and threatening his life over a property that is sub-judice.
According to the petition, Aleshe is the claimant over a land known as Nos : NW6/33 and NW6/34 Fajuyi Road, Eko Tedo, Ibadan, in a suit No : I/1095/2024 against Adigun and three others, stating that the suit arose after a man purportedly acting on behalf of Momodu Akande family instituted an action against Aleshe without his knowledge claiming title to the Momodu Akande family land which is known as NW6/29.
It added that after obtaining judgement over the said land without serving Aleshe, Adigun and others proceeded to Nos : NW6/33 and NW6/34 which had been fenced by Aleshe since 2012 attempting to levy execution instead of Akande’s land which is situated at No : NW6/29.
The petition stated further that rather than wait for the court to deliver judgement in the suit, Adigun decided to raise a private army led by Agbolahan and tormenting Aleshe by threatening his life, warning him that only the living can conclude a case.
The petition read in part, “Our client as per our advise instead of seeking help to battle the said Lebe and his Principal, on the same date, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, ran away from Ibadan.
“With this, we hereby request for a high level investigation into this allegation and further stop them constructing anything on the said land pending the determination of the case and caution Mr. Saheed Omogbolahan Adigun that should anything happen to our client he will be held liable.”

NATIONAL SECURITY: NPF REACTIVATES DIGITAL TINTED GLASS PERMIT SYSTEM
Emphasizes Role in Enhancing Security, Public Confidence
The Nigeria Police Force, under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reactivated the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits (TGP) nationwide through a secure and user-friendly digital platform available at https://www.possap.gov.ng.
This initiative comes in response to widespread public complaints about the harassment of motorists over the use of tinted windows and reflects the need for a clear, transparent, and accountable process for regularizing factory-fitted tinted glass on vehicles. With modern automobiles increasingly manufactured with tinted windows, it has become essential to provide a standardized system that accommodates legitimate use while ensuring public safety.
Tinted vehicles have often been exploited for criminal purposes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, “one-chance” scams, and other forms of banditry. Their use hampers police visibility and impedes effective law enforcement, thereby contributing to public insecurity. The reactivation of the permit system is a strategic move to identify lawful users such as individuals with medical requirements or members of the security community while preventing misuse for criminal activities. It is expected to enhance police investigative capabilities and strengthen national security efforts.
Applicants can now process their permits online, with identity verification integrated through the National Identification Number (NIN) and Tax Identification Number (TIN), alongside biometric capture and background checks. The system also features QR-coded digital permits, with a streamlined processing timeline of 72 hours.
To ensure a smooth transition, a 30-day grace period has been approved, effective from May 1st, 2025, within which motorists are expected to comply. Enforcement will commence at the end of this period. Officers found engaging in unprofessional conduct such as extortion or harassment in the course of enforcement will be decisively dealt with in accordance with extant disciplinary procedures.
The Inspector-General of Police reiterates the Force’s commitment to a technologically driven and citizen-focused policing strategy. He urges the public to embrace the initiative in the interest of safer roads, enhanced public trust, and a more secure Nigeria.

Oyo Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Rule of Law Enforcement …says violators, offenders risk jail terms, option fine
The Oyo State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding the Rule of Law across the state, adding that all residents, irrespective of tribe or affiliation, must comply with the established regulations.
This was stated by the Chairperson, Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Agency, (OYRLEA), Hon. Justice Aderonke Aderemi (rtd.), recently in Ibadan.
She also said that the Authority was mandated to enforce existing laws related to environmental protection, road traffic management, and the prohibition of open grazing and rearing in Oyo State.
Justice Aderemi clarified that these laws are not new but have been in existence within the legal frameworks, stressing that the Authority has been tasked to enforce an orderly, safe, and clean state in line with Governor Makinde’s vision.
She described the Authority as the “new sheriff in town,” with the mission to crack down on violators of anti-open grazing laws, environmental regulations and traffic management laws, among others.
Aderemi called on herders to vacate all farm settlements in the state, saying that the farm settlements are mainly for farming purposes, and it is illegal to graze cows, sheep, goats, and even chickens on any farm settlements in the state.
She maintained that
the state government, has the prerogative to appoint whosoever it wishes as Board Members in any of her Laws, adding that no individual or association has any right or entitlement regarding the constitution of the Board.
The Chairperson said for every arrest and apprehension, the Mobile Courts and Tribunals are strategically positioned to prosecute offenders, emphasizing that counsels are available to defend or apply for bail as the case may be, otherwise, a jail term or option of fines awaits such offenders or lawbreakers.
She therefore urged the citizenry to uphold the Rule of Law in the State to avoid being sanctioned.
